As I’m sure you know, Drury Foster and Mary Pratt were married in Bedford County, VA according to the bond dated 04 April 1786. Consent for Mary was given by her mother, Mary. Drury’s wife, Mary Pratt, was the daughter of James Pratt, originally from Culpeper County, Virginia. Mary Pratt’s grandfather was Jonathan Pratt of Culpeper County. Mary’s father, James, who was said to be in debt, apparently left Bedford County and possibly died in the late 1780s—hence, the consent for her marriage by her mother.
